MEET THE TEAM

Martin Profile B&W.jpg

Martin Day

Martin began his wine journey in 1996 when, after completing his degree in Aeromechanical Engineering, he landed the job of assistant manager at The Pipe of Port in Southend, a restaurant famous in Essex for its wine credentials. Within 2 years he had completed the first 2 levels of the WSET qualifications in wines and spirits and began studying for his diploma. Moving on to Swig in 1998 (a very funky wine merchant in Belsize Park) and then Bibendum Wine Ltd. (one of the country's largest wine agencies) as a Wine Buyer (tough job, but someone's gotta do it) before buying the restaurant where it all began, The Pipe of Port, in 2013.

Martin is now DipWSET qualified and a WSET accredited educator, International Wine Challenge Senior Judge ... and Knight of Cava!

Katy Mendes-Day

The brains behind the operation.

Katy has a diverse range of skills honed during her time in project and operational management in the IT and eLearning industries since the late 90s. In short - there's nothing she can't do with a spreadsheet.

Katy saw the potential of Evingelical from the outset, and, whereas Martin is the font of vinous knowledge, Katy is the nuts and bolts that makes it tick.

Your face here?

We're always looking for WSET qualified communicators to join our team.

If you are WSET level 2 or above qualified and consider yourself a charismatic and enthusiastic wine communicator, we would love to hear from you - just drop us a line at info@evingelical.co.uk.
